Forty-three beach huts lining the promenade of Great Yarmouth seafront will soon be built.
Set to be based on North Drive opposite the Imperial Hotel and beside the Venetian Waterways, the beach huts will face a 230m-wide swathe of beach.
Crews have already removed part of the sea-facing concrete wall by the North Drive car park and digging has begun.
Speaking on BBC Radio Norfolk on Tuesday, Great Yarmouth Borough Council's head of property and asset management Jane Beck said the huts will be available to buy or rent from May.
Ms Beck added the huts will be located alongside the promenade, so there will be no obstruction to pedestrians and cyclists using the existing pavement.
Fencing currently surrounds the development site, but the pavement is still accessible.
Plans for the 43 beach huts were announced last March. The £450,000 scheme came after the success of the Gorleston cabins.
Council leader Carl Smith said the summer rentals had become sought after despite a slow start.
He said: "They have taken off since people have seen others using them.
"It is a real success story and one we want to repeat in Great Yarmouth."
