Ten new businesses have been created in Great Yarmouth, as a result of the town’s recent enterprise hub project.
The hub ran from August until December of last year, and provided support to new and established businesses, as well as a space for one-to-one meetings, training and networking events.
In a report presented to councillors on Monday, January 9, officers at the borough council said that some 104 businesses in the Yarmouth area had benefitted from the hub - which occupied the former Game store in the Market Gates shopping centre.
A total of £32,128 of investment was brought into the borough’s businesses, thanks to support from the hub, the report added.
The hub closed at the end of 2022, as there was only enough funding - which came from the government’s Community Renewal Fund - to run the project for a few months.
Conservative councillor Daniel Candon, who chairs the borough authority’s economic development committee, said the results were “a real achievement” and that the council would need to look for ways to “keep the momentum going on this business support in Great Yarmouth”.
