A festive tradition stretching back four decades has seen the crew of Caister Lifeboat presented with turkeys.

Every year, Bernard Matthews donate the birds to the members of the volunteer service.

This year's presentation took place on Tuesday (December 20) when crew were visited by Dean Hunter, human resources director of Bernard Matthews.

Paul Garrod, chairman of Caister Lifeboat, said: "The crew all look forward to it every year.

"Bernard Matthews has come up trumps again."

The independent lifeboat charity operates the only all-weather lifeboat independently of the RNLI.

Work continues on the service's new shed, which will boast a cafe and viewing terrace, as well as a new lifeboat which is being built on the Isle of Wight, with a new trailer in Great Yarmouth and a tractor in North Walsham also being constructed.

It is hoped the new station will be open by Easter.

"It's a busy time for the lifeboat," Mr Garrod said.
