A petition has been set up demanding a Christmas family fun event in a coastal village does not have reindeer.
Nic Clifford, from Caister, has created an online petition calling for the organisers of Caister Wonderland to change their minds about having reindeer at Saturday's event.
Mrs Clifford's petition is called "Caister-on-Sea Christmas Wonderland, don't use live, sensitive, Reindeer at your event!!" and says organisers should put the animals' welfare before the "entertainment" of families.
Her petition says reindeer will become distressed by large festive crowds and says Caister should follow the lead of other cities, towns and villages that have shown "compassion" by banning reindeer at events.
Mrs Clifford's call is being backed by four animal charities - One Kind, Freedom for Animals, Animal Aid, and Born Free - which have all sent emails to the wonderland organisers setting out the health risks posed to reindeer at public events.
Mrs Clifford said: "I have never generated a petition before. I just feel so passionate about it.
"Big cities and other places have shown compassion and cancelled having reindeer, why should a village where I grew up do this on our doorstep?
"It is ignorance, I know that sounds horrible, but it is ignorance."
"We have responded to these directly.
"Following in-depth communications with the company bringing along the reindeer and confirmation from the council that they are happy with the paperwork provided, we will be having reindeer at Caister Wonderland."
Caister Wonderland is being held at the village’s King George V Playing Field on Saturday between 11am and 5pm.
As well as reindeer, the free-to-enter event will have a funfair, a Christmas market with 70 stalls and workshops, such as wreath-making and brownie decorating, and Santa’s grotto.
There will also be a giant snow globe and a chance to drive festive cars around a track.

Caister Wonderland preparations gear up
This week has seen organisers gear up for the first event of its kind in the village, with a community Christmas tree being put up and marquees installed.
A statement from organisers said: "Preparations are ramping up to transform the King George V Playing Field, Caister into a magical, Christmas wonderland.
"With the support of local businesses we can offer attractions and activities that rival other large, ticketed events and at a fraction of the cost plus free entry.
"We just want people to be able to come along and rediscover the Christmas magic after the difficulties the past couple of years have presented.
"The whole community is coming together and it is truly heartwarming to see and be a part of.
"We even have an app with everything you need to know. Head to our Facebook page for all the details. Everyone is welcome."
