Dozens of England fans have gathered in a Great Yarmouth pub to cheer on England's emphatic win over Iran.

The Kings Arms was packed with celebrating Three Lions supporters as England cruised to a 6-2 win in their first group game.

The Northgate Street pub is a popular destination with England fans and has an outside big screen and tented area for fans to watch games outside.

However most fans stayed inside to watch the game on the pub's five indoor screens.

There were shouts and cheers as the goals piled up for England in the 6-2 win.

Among the fans were a group of Royal Mail postal workers who were allowed to start their rounds earlier so they could watch the 1pm kick off.

Postman Ian Wynes said that a winter World Cup was not the same as a summer one but now England were off to a winning start the momentum would build up for future England games.

He said: "It is different this time as we are all inside the pub where normally we would be watching outside at the back."

He added England should reach the quarter-finals at least and that the atmosphere would build up for future games, including England's game on Friday against America.

Landlady Mel Pywell said that during a summer World Cup she would expect to see about 500 people at the pub and predicted that 250 people may turn up to watch future England games in the Kings Arms at the Qatar-based tournament.

She said: "We have a big screen in the garden and five screens inside showing it. I think we could get about 250 people in here if England do well. That would be a good turnout."

Pub manager Gary Brown was pleased with the number of England fans at the Kings Arms during the Three Lions' first game.
