A 15-year-old boy who saw a teenage mother stab a neighbour to death in Great Yarmouth said he did not see the victim and his girlfriend with weapons in their hands, a court has heard.

Katy Bown, 18, who lived at Stanley Terrace, Yarmouth stabbed neighbour 21-year-old Shane Boulton after an argument involving him and his girlfriend Claire Matheson, a Norwich Crown Court jury was told.

Bown has denied murder on June 19 last year.

Norwich Crown Court yesterday heard that after the argument between the two women had developed Mr Boulton, who had initially gone to separate them, 'pushed' Bown in the face.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told how Bown later came out of her house looking 'quite upset' walked past him mumbling something like 'I don't care anymore' with her arms by her side.

He said she walked up to Miss Matheson and Mr Boulton, who then turned round and said 'Wooah, what are you doing?' before she raised her hand and struck him in the chest.

The boy, who only then thought he saw a 'silvery' blade, said Mr Boulton, who appeared 'shocked', 'took his T-shirt off, looked at the wound, held it and collapsed'.

In cross examination Jonathan Goodman, defending, asked whether the teenage boy remembered Mr Boulton having a 'rusty bladed knife in his hand'.

The boy said: 'No, he didn't have one.'

Mr Goodman also asked the boy if Miss Matheson had a meat cleaver. He said: 'No'.
