Again Cobholm dominated but couldn’t find an end product. Waveney took the lead midway through the first half. Keanan put in a man of the match display. Jacob and Boulton chased back well and made good runs in attack with Cobholm playing into the wind, and Ronnie came on to give Boulton a rest. In the second half Cobholm put Waveney under attack and Jordan made a tackle and then found Keanan. He chipped over to Ronnie who knocked it down well for Will Field to finish. Waveney caught Cobholm napping from the restart and went 2-1 up. Mazie was unlucky not to put Cobholm level with a superb shot from near the halfway which was inches over. BOHEMIANS U12 visited Colt Jags. The Bohs created many chances only to be denied by a very strong Jags defence and keeper. The Bohs forced Jags to concede an own goal. The second half began with a more positive Bohemian side and Millie found space to score a super goal from the edge of the box. Jags, on the break, forced Briarnie to make some confident saves. Relentless attacking play again gave Millie some room to drive in a cross to Annie who finished well to seal a 3-0 win. PoM: Annie.

GORLESTON RANGERS U8C entertained Hemsby Hornets B. Starting with Marcus in goal, Rangers showed their determination. Jayden and Cam B produced some fantastic teamwork, whilst Cam A and Harry stayed strong in defence. Ben was goalie in the second half, proving he is not just a long-range runner. Charlie took on any player, showing his excellent ball control. Marcus and Harry got even stronger in the second half, continuing with the great passing and control. MoM: The whole team. GORLESTON RANGERS U9C visited Blundeston Magpies in a top-of-the-table clash. Rangers had Fenn in goal, Harry, Kier and Callumt in defence with the midfield two out of Sam, Tommy, Charlie and Regan, with Ethan and Sammy taking it in turns up front. Within the first minute Rangers had to make a substitute for Ethan, which changed the whole aspect of the game, with the Rangers team concerned about Ethan, they were not fully concentrating. Blundeston got two quick goals through simple errors. A defensive error gave the opposition a third goal. Second half Blundeston made it 4-0. Rangers suddenly came to life in midfield but lacked in the final third. The boys held on to the very end and improved. MoM went to Harry and most improved to Tommy. GORLESTON RANGERS U9C were at home to Hemsby U9A who were a couple of players down. Rangers started with Fenn in Goal and Callum and Keir in defence. Charlie and Tommy were in midfield Sam came on for Charlie with Ethan up front. A few of the Rangers’ players made some silly mistakes and were punished as Hemsby scored. The boys were battling second half but trying too hard. Sam came on for Charlie and forced his way into the box to score to make it 1-1. Hemsby came back with an extra player who turned up at half-time. Ethan, with some great trickery, worked his way to edge of the box, unleashing a shot which took a slight deflection for 2-1. Keir was well disciplined, along with Harry running up-field. Sam and Ethan with Tommy and Charlie tried to break Hemsby down. Ethan, on the volley, hit the bar, making it the third time the woodwork was hit. Finally Ethan received the ball from Sam and hit a shot which the keeper could only turn into the net for 3-1 to Rangers. Callum came on and stayed steady at the back. GORLESTON RANGERS U12C travelled to a much-improved St Bennets and came away with another three points. Rangers went a goal behind to a long-range effort. They levelled when Max cut in from the right and slotted the ball home. They increased the lead just before half-time when Tyler bundled the ball over the line. With the wind behind them in the second half they started to create chances but failed to capitalise on their possession. They scored again when Big H volleyed home from outside the box. Kristian scored the fourth with a lovely strike to cap off a fine individual performance. Big H tapped in the fifth and Hazza stepped up with a drive to make it six. HEMSBY U9A visited Gorleston Rangers C with just four players for the whole first half, yet managed to take the lead 1-0 with Jimmy’s thunder strike through a crowded box. Rusty kept Rangers at bay with some great goalie skills. Taylor defended solidly and took the ball up the flanks, laying it off into space for Reece, who got past all the Rangers players only to be denied by an on-form Rangers goalie. Hemsby went into the second half with five players but Rangers scored two great goals, and an own goal saw it end 3-1. HEMSBY U10 Wasps climbed into the table top half with a dramatic 5-3 win over KPFC. The table-topping Suffolk side were rocked when Matthew scored after two minutes. An equaliser didn’t dent their confidence and man of the match Thomas scored twice after great work by Luey and Jed to make it 3-1. The defence was well marshalled by Harry and Jack. Kirkley scored twice to level and set up a tense finale. Elliot saved well before rolling out to Liam. He pushed forward, allowing Ryan to restore Hemsby’s lead. Ryan scored again to secure the points. A fabulous all-round team performance. This was great preparation for this week’s big cup quarter-final at Loddon.

SHRUBLANDS U16 GIRLS visited Loddon and chose to play with the wind behind them. This was a new side, and the players were all playing as a team. With the first half over, Shrubs were 7-0 up. Shrubs scored a further nine goals, some very well taken. Laura Jane scored six, was subbed and played in defence as well. Bex got two and also played in defence. Nancy got one. Cody came on after 20 minutes and played left-back and midfield. She went in goal for the last 20 minutes. With Sasha and Kat working well together they both got three each. Loddon kept plugging away and scored from a thunderbolt with wind behind it. PoM went to Hope with a special mention to Rachel. February 13: no game, February 14: no training. SHRUBLANDS U16 GIRLS are going on tour to Skegness Butlins between May 13 and 16 to play in a tournament. They are looking for anyone who can help fund this event. Stalham U11 played the very sporting Mundesley after beating Holt 5-3 last week. They dominated the game and ran out comfortable 14-0 winners. Goals came from Harry (4), Troy and Josh (3), Sean, Joseph, Matthew T and Jake. Assists came from Matthew T and Troy (3), Harry (2) and Matthew M, Tom and Josh. A pleasing clean sheet was kept with great defending from Matthew M, Chris and Josh, with Will having a very quiet game in goal. A good team performance.

COBHOLM U7 entertained Harleston. As the game started without Louie in goal Cobholm knew it was going to be a tough game, but Bailey stepped in iand made some great saves, one from a penalty. Cobholm nearly finding the back of the net on a number of occasions. This week’s captain Toby worked hard and pulled off some great tackles, unlucky not to score. Josh stood his ground in defence. Thom was all over the place working hard and scored. Buddy working hard up and down with chances to score. Buddy took a knock and had to come off. When Danielle was called upon she worked hard for the team and hit one home. Cobholm were awarded a corner which curled into the back of the net. All players gave it their all in strong winds and all deserved man of the match. Training Saturday 10am.

COBHOLM U10B entertained second-placed Swindell and playing against the wind found themselves behind through two mistakes and a lack of tackling. Basic football was forgotten and the passing and good play of earlier in the season disappeared. Midway through the half when some of the old play returned, leading to Owen Smith scoring his first-ever goal for the club from a scramble following a good corner from Charlie. More Cobholm pressure forced a couple of chances. The team must listen to the managers and perform as they did at the start of the season. Result: 4-1 to Swindell. MoM: Odin Lockwood. GORLESTON RANGERS U14A entertained Kirkley and Pakefield A and ran out 7-0 winners. Callum Batley opened the scoring and followed that up 15 minutes later. An excellent through-ball from Callum Mordecai found Jay Turner who delivered a pin-point pass for Callum to double Rangers’ advantage. In the second half Rangers were rewarded almost instantly. Ollie Brown’s free-kick was met by a header from fellow centre-half Taylor Jackson, and Callum completed his hat-trick, Jed Knights took his two goals well under pressure and Callum notched his fourth. Cameron Brooks in centre midfield worked hard and along with Rangers defensive line-up proved hard to break down. MoM: Taylor Jackson. BREYDON UNITED U12 visited Kirkley and Pakefield B and after the great first win of this season were on a high. They got a brilliant early goal from a well-placed cross from new signing Tom P which ended in the back of the net. Kirkley pulled one back with a wind-assisted an own goal. United clawed it back with a great effort from Ben M. A ball to hand was declared hand-ball and a penalty was awarded for 2-2. MoM: TJ. GORLESTON RANGERS U10C were away to Freethorpe. Rangers gave Freethorpe too much time with the ball. Throughout Rangers created a few chances but were very unlucky not to score. An unlucky result for the lads but a good team performance. MoM: Sonny. Rangers are currently looking for new players to join for next season. CAISTER U10B continued their unbeaten run in Division Two with a hard-fought draw against a much-improved St Benets Wasps A whose goalkeeper turned in an outstanding performance. Caister took the lead after four minutes when, after a goalmouth scramble, Alex’s cross was turned into his own net by a Wasps defender. Wasps pulled level. Caister continued to play good passing football with Logan having another good game, supported well by Will and Harry. The second half saw constant pressure from Caister, Richie went close and Alex had a free-kick turned over the bar by the keeper. Alfie, Harley and Daniel kept Wasps out at the back and Reece supported the strikers well. Thomas in goal kept his concentration and pulled off a crucial save. Wasps held on to take a deserved point at 1-1. MoM: Logan.

GORLESTON RANGERS U9A turned up at a windy Sole Bay United. Rangers settled the quicker. Jack was deputising for Dougie in goal and had a pretty quiet game. Brandon and Ethan combined really well to combat any danger. Tommy bossed the game in midfield, providing Abi and Ieuan with chances at goal. A good run down the right was followed by a good pass from Abi into Ieuan’s path for him to open the scoring. Ethan also got onto the scoresheet with a great goal either side of two goals from Tommy. The second half was much the same with Rangers passing very well and creating several chances. Harry came on and hit the ground running with a great run down the right before the chance was snuffed out. Very well done to all Rangers players for trying to play the right way in severe weather conditions. MoM: Harry.

BLUNDESTON MAGPIES U12 were away to Beckvale Boys. Neither team really mastered the conditions leading to a high scoring 6-6 draw in the strong blustery wind. The Magpies played with the wind in the first half but found themselves a goal behind early on and under pressure before Sam scored on the break, Sam went close again before Logan forced the ball back into the net from a defensive clearance. The Magpies were making the most of the wind and were disappointed to concede a soft goal from a rare Beckvale attack. Declan gave the Magpies a half-time lead, scoring when the keeper could only parry away Sam’s shot. The lead didn’t last long, Beckvale scoring with a good shot, then it took good work by the defence and man of the match Jordan to keep out a succession of Beckvale attacks. Two quick goals looked to have given the hosts the points. The Magpies dug in and Declan was again on hand to score from Sam’s parried shot. A good break and shot by James was again forced over the line by Declan and the turnaround was complete when a superb pass by James put Sam through to score. Iin a final twist, Beckvale scored an equalising goal with virtually the last kick of the game.

MARSH HARRIERS U13, at Swindell on Sunday, were up against it being able to field only 10 players. Harriers could not live with the pace of the game and were a couple of goals down early on. Swindell were given far too much time on the ball and made Harriers pay with some well-worked goals. A free-kick on the halfway line taken by Jack M was met in the six-yard box by Jacob who put a lovely cushioned header past the keeper on the stroke of half-time. Swindell came out in the second half looking to put pressure on the Harriers, going on to score a hatful of goals against a lack-lustre Harriers. The game finished 13-1, but a special mention to H for making several excellent saves with some very brave keeping to prevent even more goals.

BOHEMIANS GIRLS U16 were away to Aylsham, and had to contend with a very poor pitch and a gale-force wind. However the girls turned in a sparkling performance which maybe had something to do with the team talk following the previous week’s debacle. Bohs were 7-0 up at half-time courtesy of a hat-trick for Chloe, two from Clieo and one each from Chelsea – a memorable solo effort – and one for Lauren who has proved to be a great signing. The second half belonged to Clieo, who scored five but fully deserved double that for a performance which was without parity this season. With Lauren she has forged a frightening partnership up front. Laura, Megan, Chelsea and Lauren with her second completed the scoring and full marks to Aylsham who deserved their two goals. GORLESTON RANGERS U11 travelled to Walmer Road. The game started brightly with Josh S going close. The midfield were playing well with Liam and Dan constantly breaking down Kirkley and Pakefield with tough tackling. Dan was unlucky with a hooked shot well saved. William caused problems with his running down the right and in an evenly-matched first half Kirkley were kept at bay with a strong defensive performance from Micheal, Callum and Joe, with George having no real tests. In the second half Kirkley had the wind behind them and from a direct free-kick they scored. Team changes saw Mohammed go close and then score with a fine half-volley to equalise. Moments later Dan won the ball and with a fine through ball passed to Jack C who calmly slotted home. Rangers continued to push and Liam was unlucky not to score with a header from a corner. Rangers finished 2-1 winners. MoM: Mohammed. Player of the month was Josh B. Goal scorers were Jack C and Muhammed.

GORLESTON RANGERS U12A entertained Kirkley and Pakefield A in a dress rehearsal of this season’s cup final and came away with a solid performance and win. Playing at Southtown Common they controlled the game well with the back four of Ben’s H and G, Luke and Callum giving Kirkley very few openings. With the midfielders working hard Rangers scored two goals in each half to come away with a 4-0 win, goals from Matty (2), Connor and Ben G. Connor and Ben G were presented with joint players of the month awards from the parents and supporters. This Sunday Rangers are away to Breydon, with details given at training on Saturday.

HEMSBY HORNETS U7A travelled away to play Kirkley and Pakefield C. In a good end-to-end game Hemsby battled for every ball but couldn’t finish the chances they created. Special mentions to the girls Eden, Maddison, Molly and Caitlin who never gave up and are constantly improving with every game. Ryan, Haydn and Harvey worked hard in midfield and Haydn scored with a good finish. PoM: Molly. Next Match on Sunday at home against Harleston B, kick off 12.30pm.

GORLESTON RANGERS U10A eventually went down to a good Bohemians side 2-0. The boys battled hard throughout. IPlaying into a strong wind they fell behind when they failed to clear a long throw. The second half saw Evan, Jake and Finlay defend very well. Connor battled hard up front with Jack, Bailey, Leon, Lewis D, Lewis C and Bradley all trying hard to support him. In the final minute Rangers failed to clear their lines and Bohemians added a second with a strong shot from 15 yards which gave Finlay no chance. MoM: Finlay. The new players have settled in well and, hopefully, with a few more games performances will improve. GORLESTON RANGERS U13A turned in their best performance of the season, defeating a good Hemsby Hornets A side 11-1 away. Some of their passing and quality of goals were superb on a day when everything they tried seemed to come off. Hopefully with many tough fixtures coming up this performance will give them some confidence as they try to win the NSYL Division One championship for the fourth consecutive season. Goal scorers were Isaac (4), George (3), Charlie (2), Mikey P and Jordan. MoM: All 15 squad members made significant contributions to this team effort. GORLESTON RANGERS U13B hosted Waveney B in the league and after two below-par performances against them were looking to get back to their free-flowing style. Early pressure paid off after 17 minutes with James netting the opening goal. This was followed two minutes later by Dan doubling the lead and again three minutes later James scored a third goal. These three goals were created by Rangers playing great football. Waveney re-grouped at half-time and came out fighting. They pulled one back from a free-kick after 10 minutes. Rangers lost Dan at half-time with a foot injury and wish him a speedy recovery. Lee also took a knock but was able to go back on for the last few minutes. In injury time James was fouled on the edge of the box and the referee played the advantage which allowed Tom to put the ball away for Rangers to win 4-1. MoM: Caleb. Next match is away to Mutford in the Shield, 11am kick off.

HEMSBY HORNETS U8A visited a good Bungay side. In an entertaining game Hemsby took an early lead with Lewis finishing off a good team move. Bungay got straight back into the game then edged ahead before the break. Aaron made some good saves to keep Hornets in the match. Hemsby stepped it up after half-time with Jamie in control at the back and Kameron battling hard in midfield. Matthew was in great form smashing in two long-range efforts and running the midfield. Alfie capped a good performance by following up a strike from Jamie. MoM: Matthew. Next game against Gorleston A. Team: Aaron, Jamie, Matthew, Luke, Lewis, Alfie and Kameron.

ORMESBY LADS U11 travelled to Long Stratton missing three players and were a goal down early on. Ben equalised after a surging run and soon added a second. Long Stratton scored two more before Jamie forced home a leveller when Ben’s shot came back off the keeper. Stratton went ahead again. Captain for the day, Andrew, made great saves as Stratton made full use of the strong wind. Ralph, Brandon and Alex made decisive tackles. Carter went close a few times despite a first-half ankle injury and Leon had a great late chance. Jordan did well in spells but the game ended in defeat.It could have been different with a full, injury-free squad. MoM: Alex.
