A FAMILY Fun Day at the Belton Tavern was blessed with good attendance, helping raise funds for Addenbrooke's Hospital neurosurgery ward and teenage villager Luke Hopes.

A FAMILY Fun Day at the Belton Tavern was blessed with good attendance, helping raise funds for Addenbrooke's Hospital neurosurgery ward and teenage villager Luke Hopes.

Apprentice electrician Luke, 19, has been recently diagnosed with a rare brain tumour, and has had one operation but requires further intensive treatment. His father spoke on behalf of the family before the event was opened by Barry Stone, deputy leader of Great Yarmouth Borough Council.

The crowds were entertained to live music all afternoon, arranged by Paul Johnstone, the lead singer with local band Lewellyn, assisted by Andy from Pulse Entertainments, all entertainers gave their services free.

There was a charity raffle, Sumo wrestling, gladiator competition, swingboats, barbecue, cake stall, stocks, engine display and much more.

A spokesman for the Belton Tavern Charity events team said: “We'd like to thank everybody for their support, special thanks to Mark Hole of Burgh Hall, Bill Richmond, Derek Sayer, Aqueteria Ltd and Peter and Johnathan Riches of Hall Farm.”
