A 20,000 grant is set to boost the chances of finding work among Great Yarmouth's jobless.
First Move Furnishaid has received funding from the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales.
The charity provides training and support for people who are unemployed or on a low income. The two-year grant will enable them to launch a new project aimed at getting people back to work. Users of the new service will be shown how to set up email accounts, access job sites, upload their CVs and practice interview techniques.
Chairman Patricia Page said: “Great Yarmouth has the highest unemployment rate in the East of England so there's a real demand for this type of service and the funding we received from the Lloyds TSB Foundation will go a long way in helping us meet this need.”
Over 3000 people accessed the charity's services last year, which include daily training sessions where people learn basic IT and CV-writing skills and a furniture recycling scheme where unwanted furniture is collected and delivered to people on low incomes.
