Great Yarmouth Lunch Club welcomed Mayor of Great Yarmouth, Cllr John Burroughs as guest speaker to their second fully booked lunch. The club was launched in June by three local business people - all passionate about business in and around the Great Yarmouth area. And James Shipp from BDO LLP, Carl Clements from 3Sun Group and Greg Allan from Birketts LLP have been overwhelmed with the success so far. James Shipp said: “I believe the success is down to the relaxed and informal environment for people to see friends, colleagues and to meet new contacts.”
The Mayor who is upbeat about the future of Yarmouth said: “It’s fantastic to see local businesses taking the initiative to bring together a lunch club like this and have the ambition to assist business growth in the town. It is all very positive in Great Yarmouth, especially with the ever-increasing activity of the oil and off shore wind industries.
“These two sectors will bring a huge boom to the town. Now that we have got the harbour built, we can accommodate all of the traffic being generated. So confidence is growing in and around the town, with many businesses picking up and starting to see real signs of recovery. We have set ourselves up to be well positioned.”
The Lunch Club meets every other month and has so far been fully booked on both occasions.
